Alexandra Sevastianova is a Ballroom and Latin dancer, instructor and choreographer. She discovered her passion for dance at an early age and since then, she hasn’t stopped dancing! Alexandra started dancing competitively in her home country of Moldova. It has been 8 years now, and currently, Alexandra and her dance partner Brenton are vice-champions in the Ballroom category representing Canada in national and international competitions. She is training with the top Canada and world coaches and continues learning and improving her own skills every day. Dance is an integral part of Alexandra’s life, and she loves sharing her passion with all of her students, both young and old. Alexandra wishes to strengthen the K-W ballroom community and help her students realize their own dance goals.
Brenton Mitchell is a Halifax native who was introduced to ballroom dancing through second grade gym class. Brenton took his love of music and movement to university with him, where it briefly took a form other than the cha-cha. He studied at Dalhousie, and earned a minor in kinesiology, and then a masters in occupational therapy. Since Ontario offers better opportunities for Ballroom dancing, Brenton had to take the hard step of leaving his hometown in Halifax and move to Waterloo.
“He was dedicated to it in his soul,” says Edgett, his first dance coach. “He’s still with it, and it will never go away — it’s a passion for him.”
Currently, Brenton is teaching with Alexandra at the Waterloo Dance Studio. His passion, patience, and creativity ignite the passion of dancing in his students.
